Welcome to Year 1 – Oak Class

Class Teacher: Miss Eloise Barker

I am incredibly excited to be joining St Gabriel's this year as a Year 1 teacher. I recently completed my PGCE at the University of Exeter, where I was honoured to receive the Ted Wragg Award. Before training to become a teacher, I studied English Literature and Art History, which sparked my lifelong love of reading, storytelling, and creativity. These passions continue to inspire my teaching, and I strive to foster a classroom where children develop a love of books, curiosity, and creative thinking.

Having specialised in Early Years education, I am passionate about creating a warm, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. I believe that learning should be engaging, creative, and enjoyable, allowing children to develop confidence, resilience, and a genuine enthusiasm for discovering new things. My aim is to inspire every child to believe in their own abilities, embrace challenges, and recognise that success looks different for everyone. I want my classroom to be a place where children feel safe to take risks, celebrate their achievements, and thrive as unique individuals.

Outside of school, I enjoy painting, spending time outdoors, reading, and keeping active through a variety of sports and outdoor activities. I love bringing my enthusiasm for creativity and exploration into the classroom and look forward to becoming part of the St Gabriel's community.
